The total share value amounts to about $50 million (all figures in U.S. dollars). The commission made the information public on Tuesday that Turner had filed late last week.
Turner received the shares in January as part of the merger between America Online Inc. and Time Warner Inc, the latter of which he was the largest shareholder.
He has been divesting assets in the last year to make good on his a pledge to donate $1 billion to the United Nations. He has also promised to become financially involved in an anti-nuclear weapons initiative.
AOL Time Warner shares were down $2.71 to $45.65 on the NYSE on Tuesday afternoon.
