Celebrating the Becket Players’ 40th anniversary with Elvis

Becket Players have announced their upcoming 40th anniversary Show, called ʻThe Reunion – The Best Years of Our Livesʼ. In the 39 years of fundraising, Becket Players have raised a whopping $3,4 million dollars for charities and foundations that help children around the world.

Glitz and glamour are to be expected in this year’s show – as well as a few surprises. Elvis, who has been a very popular part of the show in the past, is coming back in the building after a few years’ absence.

Singers, dancers, set up crew – every single person involved in creating this show are volunteers. Volunteering for the Becket Players for almost 20 years, Pointe-Claire’s Audrey Riley is promising a night to be remembered. “I’ve seen many shows – Broadway shows - and I can honestly tell you that is right up there with the best of the best.” Riley’s daughter Robyn in also a part of the show – as a dancer and co-choreographer of the Cabaret Show.

This year has a slightly different format, concentrating on the Cabaret Show. “I think the audience will love this change,” said Riley. She often gets to mingle with the spectators and knows first-hand what works and what doesn’t.

Four local charities will benefit from the proceeds: Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, West Island Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, YALDEI Development Center and AMCAL Family Services.

The event will take place May 9, 10, 16 and 17 at Kirkland Sports Arena (16950 Hymus, Kirkland). Tickets are presently on sale. For more information, call 514 465-3029. Food and beverages will be served during the event. The famous smoked-meat sandwiches are back, Riley said.
