Head coach George Martin’s boys dropped last Wednesday night’s opener 9-4 in Longueuil, before coming out on the short end of a 5-2 decision last Friday night at the Dorval Arena. Jason Martin and Thomas Morse lit the lamp for the Shamrocks, who went on to lose 9-4 on Sunday night in game three.The Shamrocks earned the right to play in the semifinal after sweeping their best-of-three quarter-final series against the Valleyfield Astérix in two straight games. They defeated the Astérix 8-2 on July 19 at the Dorval Arena before registering a 4-3 victory the next night in Valleyfield.

to world championships
The Pointe Claire Canoe Club held a send-off party recently for two of its elite competitors who are off to Europe to compete in the upcoming Senior World Sprint Canoe Championships in Duisburg, Germany, Aug. 8-12. Pointe Claire resident Thomas Hall will compete in canoeing while Andrew Willows will paddle a kayak, with births on the Canadian canoeing and kayaking team that will compete in next summer’s Olympics in Beijing on the line.
Shamrocks ousted
It’s wait until next year for the West Island Shamrocks. The Longueuil Patriotes swept the Dorval-based Quebec Junior Lacrosse League team in three straight games in a best-of-five semifinal series.
