Should Damon Duval worry that Carey Price is as strong a kicker as he is a goalie?

After the Sabres put the boots to the 21-year old for back-to-back goals on shootouts preventing the Canadiens from winning the opener of their 100th season, Price put the boots to the railing at the tunnel back to the Canadiens dressing room. It appeared to be a rare moment of wearing his heart on his goalie skate, but Price had nothing to be upset about and his seemingly rare display of emotion could only have been an indicator that his emotional fire is burning strong this season.

Price will be the least of the Canadiens' concerns this season and he kept them in the game to force overtime in the first place.

AND NOW THE TRUTH CAN BE TOLD: When I asked Carey 'how his foot was' after morning skate in Toronto, he frankly admitted it was a pratfall---he simply tripped on the narrow passage-way frame and awkwardly re-enacted his near tumble in the dressing for my benefit. Damon's kicking job with the Als is safe for another season.

The Leafs Vesa Toskala had the "C" beside his name on the official scoresheet when Toronto played party-crashers in Detroit to ruin the Stanley Cup Champs' banner-raising celebration. Do you think the Wings fell for a case of mistaken identity--thought it was Luongo in goal?

Expect Quinton Porter to suffer some serious CFL growing pains against the Als' defense on Thanksgiving Monday. After 5 td passes in his first-ever game against the Als, the Hamilton fiasco has fallen so far that Porter's not even being hailed a hero, just as somebody who could help mop up the mess.

Craig Rivet blushed when I asked him about being elected the new captain of the Sabres. What a leader. And when I asked him for his thoughts on Patrick Roy's jersey retirement coming up as part of the Centennial Celebrations, Reev just laughed and recalled his classic "Patrick Moment."

Rivet is making his Canadiens debut and gets to the Forum dressing room right early. He's first man in. There is Roy's gear laid out just so on the floor in front of the future Hall of Famer's stall. Rivet cannot resist the temptation.

He pulls on the blocker. Pulls on the trapper glove. He's channelling the marvellous saves of his new teammate. Rivet starts pumping the hands up to make imaginary save after save....and you guessed it...in walks Patrick himself.

St. Patrick says "you like my gloves?" "Yeah, says his eager new defenseman, relieved he hasn't been assaulted for trespassing! "Never touch it again," glares Roy.

Tom Kostopoulos looked great on the Lang-Sergei K line in Buffalo...far more comfortable than Latendresse did on the Koivu line.
