When is a meeting not a meeting? When Coach says it isn't. Coach Carbonneau told me just before the Habs-Sabres game that his 10AM meeting with his players wasn't even a meeting, just his opportunity to show them new lines on the easel board and to force them out onto the ice on gameday. Players say they heard coach's messages loud and clear.

Do you believe Bruce Boudreau when he tells me its hard to coach Ovechkin when he's on one of his ridiculous tears because 'he wants to do so much and you have to be like a parent with a child and show him that you can't do it all." But Mr. NHL Coach of the Year...he CAN do it all! He won you that trophy!

Memo to Brian Burke: Take the advice of callers to the CJAD Dagwood's Postgame show offered to the Habs---"trade everybody and fire whoever's left!^%$$@#@!"

Josh Gorges is being teased about being given VIP treatment by Coach Carbo. "Therapy Day" in Washington on US Thanksgiving, and not having to skate on the morning after their arrival back home from DC. The reason is Gorges is playing through a painful bruise on his knee...he's skating better than he's walking. I couldn't believe the odd limp that betrayed his tough-guy act as he walked down the corridor to the Habs dressing room before Saturday's game.

Coach Carbo on Gorges: "every shift he's showing why he's the heart and soul of our team right now."

Memo to Danny Macioccia: The Als coaches who'll be head coaches some day? Scott Squires and Scott Milanovich.

Best one-liner I heard this week? Shannon Sharpe before the Lions' annual Thanksgiving turkey, asked if Detroit really can go 0-16 this season? "They have the talent," said Sharpe who apologized later for exposing families to the travesty that is the NFL's model franchise...model for failure.
