Can a CFL team go 18-0? Sorry Als fans, don't you know better than that? I'm sure of 2 things in life---there will never be a perfect season in the CFL and there will never be a repeat Stanley Cup champ in the Salary Cap Era.

Wasn't Saskatchewan the perfect locale for the Als on Retro 60's Weekend? Now that we're back home I realize how many "Retro" bazoos are still rusting away on the roads of Regina.

I told you about AC's toughest decision ever in pro football...hear about his toughest contract negotiation ever? Coming off the Grey Cup win of 2002, Calvillo hid a painful leg injury that limited his effectiveness though did not prevent him from earning MVP honours. Agent Gil Scott turned that into a tryout with the NFL's Steelers but AC did not test well in Pittsburgh because of the injury. I'm told the deal to return to Montreal only got hammered out after Anthony put the hammer to his agent and fired him. If only Alex the Artist had done likewise this summer!?

Don't you love the way Jeff Parrett described o-line's domination of the Riders on CJAD's postgame show: "we kept hitting them in the mind!" The Als offense in that 2nd Half struck with all the complex subleties of a sledgehammer.

Why is it some people who have so many around them wanting to help, cannot help themselves? Let's hope Chris Nilan's recent scandal is only a stepping stone for him to chase his demons.

Why do I feel for the victims of Conman Jones? I have two former acquaintances from my 'hood' in Lachine who were convicted of ripping off single moms, the elderly and a similar mix of white-collar couples. I can only wish those who've lost their savings the courage to come forward, be free of any shame and to carry through with the patience and persistence to win what our frustrating and enfuriating court system calls justice.

Wasn't Velco Hand's catch around the helmet of an opposing player even more brilliant than that classic Super Bowl Giant helmet catch? Bryan Chiu tells me he thinks that was an even better catch than Cahoon's 2003 classic one-handed diving grab for a TD in the Grey Cup.

Ironic the Als went 60's in Regina considering the club NEVER beat the Roughriders during the entire decade! And do you realize now that AC is poised for another milestone against the Ti-Cats Thursday night on CJAD (sole possession of #2 Alltime TD passes regular season) that Sam Etcheverry is the only QB the Als had in the 60's who threw more td passes than picks? Sam still burns with anger when talking about the trade to Hamilton that exiled him. Though it opened up the NFL door, at least the Rifle can take comfort that Old School Als fans still broil about it too!
