The world of sports can suspend time, even roll back the hands of time and make us feel young again. But to suspend time, roll it back, and change the outcome? The Als don't buy what the game-officials got away with Labour Day Weekend in Vancouver either. Maybe that Cobourne final-minute TD was a 7-1 mirage, like the Alleged Summer of '09? My sources say the Als will go ahead with a protest to league headquarters.
Does that have as much chance of succeeding as does going to the UN to roll back a Honduran coup?
My sources say the Als WILL launch formal protest over the miscues by the game-officials. Truth Commission will show the Als easily made enough mistakes, tactical, strategic and otherwise---to lose.
Will you be a bit surprised to see Wally win sole posession of 1st Place overall in CFL Coaching wins Sunday in his hometown? I won't.
Does EVERYONE have skeletons in their closet? Wally Buono, having equalled The Don as winningest coach in CFL History, tells me the Pollock-Bowman Dynasty in the 70's gave him plenty of inspiration for his dual role GM-Head Coach regime in Calgary and BC. So...ready to meet Wally's skeleton? Despite being raised in Montreal, the first team he cheered for was the _ _ _ fs?!!#$!#%&@!
That's not a skeleton...its a Senator in his closet, actually. Buono idolized Frank Mahovlich and was thrilled when The Big M became a Hab.
CJAD's Abe Hefter tells me he liked Pacioretty and Andre' Benoit's work on the first morning of rookie camp. Would it do any good to tell Habs fans in Brossard they should be outside on a beautiful Labour Day Monday and not indoors?
Did you ever join a hockey pool with a Gretzky Rule? Remember, no Gretzky in most NHL pools during the height of his career? Geroy Simon of the Lions tells me when his little cousin Andrew was in elementary school, they had a rule that he could only touch the ball 3 times per game. Simon says Andrew Hawkins (yes, the Alouettes rookie who starred in Michael Irvin's reality tv show) would score 3 td's on 3 touches, rushing for about 180 yards anyway.
Classiest move of the Month? The Alouettes will present the first winner of The Tony Proudfoot Award on Sunday. If you can't be there, hear it live on CJAD 800.
