Residents can now adopt a park bench courtesy of Dorval’s latest maintenance initiative.
Want your name on a park bench in Dorval?
Now you can as city officials announced last week a program in which residents can adopt a park bench.
According to city spokesperson Sebastien Gauthier, the program “allows residents to identify with the community.”
Identifying with one’s community will come at hefty price, however, as the city will charge Dorval residents $400 to $1000 to have personalized plaques installed on park benches.
The price tag is dependent on whether residents want to have a plaque installed on a new park bench.
The money, assured Gauthier, “will not go in our pockets” but rather help maintain park benches at the arboretum and millennium, Pine Beach, and Valois parks.
“We always try to offer programs that improve the quality of life for our residents. We know this is the type of program people will appreciate,” Gauthier added.
Dorval will commit to maintaining the bench for a period of 20 years. The eventual replacement of the plaque, however, remains at the residents cost.
Prior to adopting a park bench, the city suggests visiting the park and bench of interest, prepare a dedicated message no longer than 20 words, and finally, contact 514-633-4000.
