Four unistone pedestrian crossings in Beaurepaire Village in Beaconsfield will be replaced and reused in the construction of Heroes Park this month, the Chronicle has learned.

The city contracted the two-week, $38,650-project to Pavage la Cite BM Inc. to replace the existing unistone pedestrian crossings for a new foundation and asphalt at the following roads:

  • Circle at Beaconsfield Boulevard and St. Louis Street Intersection
  • In front of 452 Beaconsfield Blvd.
  • Circle at the Beaconsfield Boulevard and Fieldfare Street Intersection
  • In front of 493 Beaconsfield Blvd.

According to Denis Chabot, Beaconsfield’s urban planning director, the unistone crossings have caused problems from the outset. As a result of heavy traffic, mostly courtesy of local bus routes, the city “is always doing repair work” said Chabot.

“We’re going to stabilize it once and for all,” the urban planning director added.

The work is expected to begin Aug. 11. One lane on Beaconsfield Boulevard will be temporarily closed to facilitate the operation.
