The students at St. Thomas High School in Pointe Claire broke two records during their fourth annual Terry Fox Walk-a-thon last Wednesday. Raising about $53,000 through pledges, the students not only broke last year’s record of $34,000 and this year’s $46,000 goal, but they also obtained the top fundraising spot among all Quebec schools. “We’re just so happy with the way everything turned out,” said Meaghan Sky, a grade 11 student in the leadership class. The entire event, including everything from coordinating the route and runners, scheduling the post-run activities, and publi-city, was organized by students in the leadership class.

This year was the first time ever all of the school’s grade levels participated in the six kilometre run, “I’d have to describe it as a 100 per cent success,” said Principal Carolyn Daoust. “It’s always been a very successful event. We’ve reached high and have exceeded our expectations.”
