The entire UTT Beutel campus school cheered on Alouettes football heroes Jeff Perrett, Scott Flory, John Bowman, Anwar Stewart and Bryan Chiu during their basketball game against their teachers. The biggest lesson learned from these players was that school is cool and it is important to always keep your eye on your life objectives. Seen here are teachers and students who were thrilled to pose with these football greats.

UTT Beutel students and staff were thrilled to host 5 members of the Montreal Alouettes as they visited the school as part of the Alouettes ‘School is Cool’ Basketball Jam program. Their objective was to speak to students about the importance of staying in school, of listening to parents and teachers, and of deciding on life objectives and taking the steps needed to meet them. Jeff Perrett, Scott Flory, John Bowman, Anwar Stewart and Bryan Chiu spoke to groups of students, from kindergarten to Grade 6 emphasizing the importance of making the right choices for school and for life as well as the importance of choosing friendships that will help steer them on the path that will best help meet their life objectives.

Following an hour of discussion on why staying in school and doing your best is so cool, the gym was the place to be as the Al’s took on the UTT teachers in some heavy duty basketball. Students made banners and posters and cheered for their football heroes. Everyone received autographed football cards and some students even brought in Alouettes banners and t-shirts for personal autographs.

The lesson of the day hit home as students learned first hand from these terrific sportsmen about how hard work, focus, and determination - and support from teachers- helped them realize their life's goals. [
