Scores of volunteers from Congregation Dorshei Emet and the Unitarian Church of Montreal are coming together to fight hunger in Montreal, during an Empty Bowls Fundraiser, on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 26.
The event is called Empty Bowls – a fundraising concept that brings people together to share a simple, nourishing meal served in a hand-crafted bowl that is yours to keep — as a reminder of the empty bowls on many Montreal tables.
Empty Bowls depends entirely on the generosity of donors, sponsors and volunteers. As a result, 100% of proceeds are directed to the beneficiaries, all of them involved in providing meals and groceries for our less fortunate neighbours. More than 100 potters from Quebec have responded to the call donating hundreds of remarkable bowls.
Since their first Empty Bowls in 2001, the combined Empty Bowls efforts of Congregation Dorshei Emet and the Unitarian Church of Montreal have raised over $50,000 for Montreal’s needy.
Tickets are $20 (includes, soup, bread, fruit and bowl to keep), $5 for lunch only, children age 5 and under eat free. Tickets on sale at the door.
