Walking into Terra Mare Restaurant is like walking into an old friend’s house for dinner. And why shouldn’t it? For 30 years, Nicolas Bras and his family have been running their fine seafood restaurant with exacting standards and watched the community grow up around them.

Whether you’re in the mood for a quiet business lunch or a raucous family celebration, Terra Mare can fit the bill. With outstanding lunch specials and a succulent, diverse dinner menu, Terra Mare is the place. The Bras family can accommodate groups as small as 10 and as large as 175 in their dining room, which has four different interchangeable rooms, depending on your group’s size. They’re not open Sundays, but they’ll open for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, and if you want to call to check, Nick himself will usually pick up the phone. With prices that keeps the dinner tab relatively low, Bras’ exacting standards have been Terra Mare’s competitive edge for more than a quarter-century. “If it’s not good enough for me, it’s not good enough to serve to my customers,” Bras said.

From fresh shrimp cocktails to aged beef, to fresh Dover Sole and Lobster Thermidor, a trip to Terra Mare is like a trip to a time when service and attention to detail were the rule, not the exception.

With tons of free parking in the front and the rear of the restaurant — and entrances opening up to both — Terra Mare is a can’t-miss staple of the West Island’s dining scene.

Terra Mare is located at 3671 Sources Boulevard in Dollard des Ormeaux. For reservations, or for group events, call 683-4353.
