Do you know the best sweet treat spot in the West Island? What about that perfect place for pasta? And we’re sure you all have your favourite places to grab a sandwich. The Chronicle wants to shine a light on some of the West Island’s finest and the key to the success of this project is community participation.

Starting next month, a team of taste-testers and spot-selectors will set out to determine some of the best foods to eat and places to be in the West Island, and is looking for your submissions in 16 categories. So, tell us about your favourite hamburgers (May 6), pizza (May 13), fish n’ chips (May 20), poutine (May 27), sushi ( June 3), sweet treat (June 10), salad (June 17), backyard garden (send in your photo) (June 24), late night eats (July 1), community pool (July 8), steak (July 15), pasta dish (July 25), bagels (Aug. 5), breakfast ( Aug. 12), sandwich (Aug. 19), readers' choice (you pick the topic) (Aug. 26).

We will then set out to painstakingly test all suggestions to ultimately come up with the Best of the West.

Phone in or e-mail your suggestions – with a short explanation behind your choice – to 514-685-4690, ext. 243, or marc.lalonde@transcontinental.ca.

Drawing winning entry

Anyone who sends in a Best of the West nomination by May 1 at 4 p.m. will have a chance to have award-winning cartoonist Stan Roach, a Dawson College illustration instructor, create a priceless personalized drawing of someone of your choosing.
