Montreal Canadiens President Pierre Boivin honoured

Montreal Canadiens President Pierre Boivin was the Guest of Honour at the Fifth Annual Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors (CJCS) Sports Celebrity Breakfast on Sunday April 5, at the Gelber Conference Centre (5700 Westbury Avenue) in Snowdon. Proceeds from the event support Seniors in Crisis, a program that delivers much needed assistance to seniors who are unable to financially look after their needs.

Some of the guests included Team Canada World Junior Hockey Championship hero and Atlanta Thrashers prospect Angelo Esposito of the Montreal Juniors, Canadiens Hall of Famer Dickie Moore, Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden, former star forward Elmer Lach, present-day Canadiens assistant Coach Kirk Muller, former Canadiens Stanley Cup winning coaches Jacques Demers and Jean Perron, Canadian freestyle skiing champion and Olympian Alex Bilodeau and three-time medal winning Canadian Olympic short-track speed skater Tania Vicent (bringing with her the Olympic torch), Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo and wife Alexia, all star free safety Etienne Boulay, centre Bryan Chiu, defensive lineman Anwar Stewart, president Larry Smith, formers Als players Tony Proudfoot , Eric Lapointe and Bruno Heppell, Adam Braz of the Montreal Impact, Canadian and World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Antonin Décarie and his trainer Marc Ramsay and former Major League Baseball prospect Ian Jordan, who currently serves as a scout and manages a Montreal elite team.

Among the media in attendance are legendary broadcaster Dick Irvin, CJAD’s Rick Moffat and Abe Hefter, The Team 990’s Shaun Starr, Herb Zurkowsky and Dave Stubbs of The Gazette, Jim Bay and Mike Piperni of RDS.

The committee planning the event is Chaired by Michael Wagen, Senior Vice President of Delmar Group. Honourary Chair is Morden “Cookie” Lazarus. Mike Cohen and Larry Fredericks served as Masters of Ceremony. A silent auction for a variety of sports memorabilia was also held.
