The Dollard des Ormeaux/Pierrefonds Blades extended their winning streak to 22 games by downing the Beauval Huskies 5-0 to capture the Lac-St-Louis Girls Atom “A” Regional Championship Saturday March 28 in Île-Bizard. The impressive streak began in December as the Blades took the Laval Girls Tournament by defeating Laval, Lakeshore, St-Georges, and finally Drummondville in an overtime final. The hard working Blades were relentless in their pursuit of team achievements throughout the season as well as in their home invitational, the prestigious Dollard APBM Girls Tournament, where they were again crowned champions by defeating worthy adversaries: Les Félines de St-Laurent, and Les Hirondelles de Trois-Rivières...twice!
Goaltender Maddy Lawler had 8 shutouts in tournament, regular season and playoff games. This was in no small part due to the stellar defensive core of Melina Patterson, Alexa Samuel, Olivia Hale, and Jennifer Atrill. Captain Danielle Waugh led the impressive offensive powerhouse, but it was the team-play of forwards Zoe Stopnicki, Dahlia Haddad, Madeleine Patterson, Erica Franco, and Christina Bokos that enabled the Atom “A” Blades to finish the season in 1st place with the best record in Dollard Girls Hockey for 2008-2009.
Dedicated coach David Waugh and esteemed assistants Bob Atrill and Bruce Lawler could not be happier with their team's effort.
