Police used a taser gun to subdue a man in Ste. Anne de Bellevue following a dispute between neighbours last week.
Police were dispatched to an apartment building after a 30-year-old man confronted some young adults whose raucous party was disturbing him at about 9 p.m. on Aug. 31, said Const J.P. Levis of Montreal police Station 1.
A verbal altercation turned physical and one young man was injured after being punched in the head, Levis said.
After several officers arrived on the scene, including ones armed with a taser, the 30-year-old man was belligerent and resisted arrest, Levis said. After the man was tasered, he was brought to hospital to be assessed. The arrested man was also being difficult with hospital staff before calming down. After being cleared medically, the man was transported to the West Operational Centre in St. Laurent and placed behind bars.
The man will likely faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and resisting arrest, Levis said.
As part of a back-to-school crackdown on rowdiness or public mischief, Station 1 police are doing extra patrols in Ste. Anne Village and boardwalk area with the help of officers from the West Operational Centre who happen to be armed with taser guns.
Levis suggest anyone upset over noise or disturbance coming from a neighbour should call 911 for police to intervene and not take matters into their own hands.
