A 40-year-old Beaconsfield man was accosted during an attempted car jacking in a commercial parking lot near Highway 40 and St. Charles Boulevard in Kirkland last Wednesday night.

The man was walking back to his Toyota Camry at about 8:25 p.m. when he noticed two men hanging around his car. One of the suspects asked for a "light" but when the man said he didn't have a lighter on him or in his car, he was hit, perhaps pistol whipped, by the thugs who then demanded his car, said Const. J.P. Levis of Montreal police Station 1. A scuffle ensued but when the crooks realized the car jacking was not going as quickly as expected, they took off, Levis said. They fled the scene in a light-coloured four-door sedan driven by a third accomplice. Police described the attackers as two young black males, maybe in their late teens, who are at least six feet tall.

A gang of youths robbed two teenage boys near a bus stop in Baie d'Urfé early last Friday. The teens, aged 15 and 16, were heading to a bus stop on Lakeshore Road when a black four-door car pulled up near them at about 12:15 a.m., said Const. J.P. Levis of Montreal police Station 1. Five youths got out of the car and told the teens to empty their pockets. Although the teens acquiesced, the attackers hit one of them with a beer bottle before driving off. The suspects are described as English-speaking black males in their early 20s. Police don't know if it was a random act or a not. (AK) Robbery outside ATM Two males of Asian origin are suspects in a mugging that took place last Friday night at the Bank of Montreal ATM machine on Donegani Avenue in Pointe Claire, Station 5 police said. The assailants got away with $60 after pushing the victim at about 11:50 p.m. One suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes, the other wore a white T-shirt, blue jeans and red hat. Police are reminding all using ATM machines to be more vigilant when taking out money and beware of anyone roaming around. (- Nav Pall)
