The Lakeshore Camera Club will host workshops being conducted by Freeman Patterson, an internationally renowned Canadian photographer, visual designer and teacher.

Patterson will be in Montreal for a week of seminars, workshops and exhibitions.

Freeman is not only famous for his stunning photos but also as an inspiring and highly motivating teacher who has helped hundreds of photographers and designers, from professional to beginner, not only improve their images but find their own individual style.

Many will know of him from his series of books on photography, considered by many photographers as "must haves." Signed copies of his books will be on sale at all events, as well as limited edition photographic prints.

A number of years ago, due to a severe bout of hepatitis, Freeman underwent a liver transplant and for a few years was unable to travel or teach. Now, fully recovered, for his 75th year, he is once again travelling to select cities to share his unique vision and gift of teaching. It has been more than 20 years since Freeman last visited Montreal.

A few events are sold out but first-come seats, at $30, remain for ‘Photography and Visual Design Seminar’ on Oct. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Concordia University and for ‘The Call to Creativity’ Oct. 30, 8 to 11 p.m., at Theatre de la Ville in Longueuil.

Tickets can be purchased either online or at the door. For more information, check www.freeman.lccphoto.org.

Meanwhile, Galerie de la Ville in Dollard des Ormeaux (12001 de Salaberry Blvd.), in collaboration with the Lakeshore Camera Club, will host a vernissage of photos by Patterson on Oct. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The photographer will be in attendance, and his books and limited edition prints will be on sale.
