I’ve decided to do exactly just that; take something small – like stretching my injured body (I can’t seem to stop working out long enough to deal with these nagging problems!) on a daily basis and making it much more than a small stretching session by raising money for the Canadian Association for the Blind. We take many things for granted on a daily basis, so for my benefit and to remind myself that being in complete health (nagging injuries aside) is not something everyone is so fortunate to experience, I am going to make a difference.
I’m talking about the Great Canadian Yoga stretch, and to be honest, I am totally cheating on this one because I don’t really do yoga! But I do stretch, and according to my body (have I mentioned, injuries, aches and pains?) apparently I don’t stretch enough! Admittedly, I did not write this in hopes of getting sympathy from my readers - although, if you happen to be giving away free massages, I won’t say no – but rather to encourage you to create your own goal, make a difference in your life and someone else’s. It’s easy! Once you’ve decided what goal you want to work on or achieve by the end of the month, simply visit the Great Canadian Yoga Stretch website at http://www.greatcanadianyogastretch.ca/and take it from there. You will be raising money by getting sponsored for your goals. At the end of the month throughout Canada, events will be held to celebrate everyone’s achievements. The Montreal event will be held in the Pointe-Claire Village at the Om West yoga studio on Saturday, May 29, 9 a.m. start. The event will consist of 45 minute workshops on topics such as postural alignment or focus on breath and movement. There will be a healthy lunch provided and the day will end with dance performances from local dance studios in the community!
Funds raised in the Great Canadian Yoga Stretch will go to Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), helping Canadians with vision loss to enhance their independence, achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.
