So even after the Habs fans earn points in 6 straight games, one cranky fans says to me..."we should have had Kim St. Pierre in nets Saturday!" Burn. Canada's Golden Girl Goalie had a dream-day last week in practise, but Carey Price winning a wrestling takedown on Christopher Higgins at the end of practise Monday at the Bell Centre tells me Price has finally shaken the flu bug and will be fine against the Hurricanes Tuesday night.

Why is it the one time the Als longsnapper Corey Huclack botches a snap for a convert it costs them the game? For the same reason the one and only time Kai Ellis came anywhere near his former teammate Anthony Calvillo, he forces a hurry and a fateful interception.

Should Kai have been suspended or fined for his foot-in-mouth? No, I don't think so. His remark about putting Popp in a coma was tasteless, no matter how much Ellis feels he was wronged by the Als GM. Kai claimed on CJAD after the Blue Bombers completed their upset that he spoke out against the cap-concious GM for the good of some current Alouettes. Thanks, Kai. Suppose that wake-up call loss was for the Als' own good, too.

Tuesday the Canadiens honour legendary coaches Dick Irvin Sr., Toe Blake and Scotty Bowman. I asked former #17 Murray Wilson about his memories of Mr. Blake, and he tells this one..."A team trip to Toe's Tavern was tradition at the end of every season whether we won the Cup or not. One time, Guy Lafleur decides the Cup should be elsewhere...so he kidnaps the Cup from Toe's to his father's front lawn in Thurso. The NHL had no idea where the Stanley Cup was for about a day."

I recall seeing Mr. Blake and the trademark fedora on the '86 Cup Trail to Calgary. The on-ice and behind-the-bench Hall of Famer was still doling out advance to any players and coaches who'd listen.

I don't like the fact Damon Duval and Kerry Carter have thrown more passes this season than #2 QB Marcus Brady. All due respect to the Als' heaviest QB in recent history, but I was there at the Big Owe when it turned Big Ouch and White had to replace AC in the Eastern Final of 2004. Damon Allen and the Argos were handed the Grey Cup shot on a silver platter.

I love the CFL playoff cross-over rule and I'd take it a step further. If the Blue Bombers finish with a worse record in 2nd-place in the East then the 4th-place team in the West, Edmonton in this case, the West should have home-field advantage in the Eastern Semi-Final. Bombers are lucky enough to be in the playoff picture at all with a 7-10 record. As Head Coach Doug Berry points out..."our goal is to be the worst team ever to win the Grey Cup!"

I was glad to see Tom Kostopoulos get his first goal of the season Saturday against the Ducks. Too bad his wife doesn't believe him. Tom scored barely a minute-and-a-half into the 2nd period to give the Habs an all too brief lead, but "Mrs. TK" hadn't settled back into her seat yet. Tom tried to sell on the fact he skated around Pronger and Niedermayer and then made a beauty move on Gigeure. She knows Tom well enough it was a mucker's goal, with a swinging bunt slap at a puck near waste high.

Time's running out on Josh Gorges' promise that he'd score a goal in the Habs' first 10 games. I still think he's the most improved defenseman in the past year.
