If Sean Avery were Plaxico Burress, he would have shot his own mouth off!
Why is the NFL still the NO FUN LEAGUE? Jared Allen is fined $10,000 for applying CPR to a football purely in gest after completing a 'hat-trick' of QB sacks in a game. That's the same fine given Julius Pepper was given for a late hit on a quarterback. Damn, I know plenty of D-lineman who'd give the NFL or CFL commissioner post-dated cheques for a shot at a qb like that!
Matt D'Agostini is still living out of a hotelroom, but at least his parents are in town for the Devils game. Matt is definitely keeping his head on his shoulders...I asked where his first puck is from his NHL milestone 1st goal and he joked that it was probably being sold on e-bay already...and wouldn't fetch much.
I love this suggestion from a CJAD listener who texted me this week---she suggests Avery should have to serve up Sloppy Joe's at women's shelters while serving his suspension time. And then have to do all the dishes!
I know in my Lachine neighborhood it is time to turn on the exterior Christmas lights because Phil Goyette's got his ultimate wreath up. I love this...the old gloves are holding a stick that has the skates dangling from it in the middle of the Christmas tree boughs! Beauty!
It was great to see Elmer Lach toughing out the cold at the statue unveilings for his teammate Rocket Richard, and the other iconic trio Morenz, Beliveau and Lafleur. While Messieurs Gillett and Boivin had the class to abbreviate their remarks, M. le Ministre Bachand droned on and on while Canadiens fans and media shivered. I think Bachand may at one point have saved the Montreal Grand Prix, but he talked Bernie Ecclestone to sleep. We'll never know.
I'm not surprised Bryan Chiu has decided to come back for another year. Watch for the Als to get a deal done with Scott Flory. I do think Luke Fritz and Anwar Stewart are more likely than say Flory and Sanchez to be wearing another jersey next year.
Jamal Richardson's agent Paul Sheehy tells me he's not looking for the best NFL dollar deal for the Als' outstanding #18...he's looking for the best opportunity for the strapping reciever to win a job. Good luck, J-Rich...I think you'll be working out for a number of teams before Christmas.
