Will Bell Centre scalpers soon be swapping seats in the Reds for West Island H1N1 Coupons?

Does Jacques Martin deserve an honorary medical degree? How else did he know Andrei K just needed a double booster-shot of rookie enthusiam in Boston?

If only you could have seen Sergei K's smile throughout his Bell Centre scrum on Bulldogs gameday. Hopefully he's acting more like an NHL player on the ice because his "I love Hamilton" and "I have to work harder" leaves me wondering...if you've learned the right things to say, shouldn't you also learn how to say them?

Tim Thomas tells me he doesn't want his wife and kids to get the H1N1 shot. But then he goes on to say about the Bruins' dressing room: "Smell this room...there's got to be something growing!" Oooh.

Did you notice Damon Duval has joined the Alouettes o-linemen in growing a playoff beard and moustache? A kicker thinking like an o-lineman?

Is there an NHL gene? Habs rookie Tom Pyatt is less than a week away from a possible Brother Act against Taylor Pyatt. Their proud father is former Red Wing, Capital and Colorado Rockie Nelson Pyatt. Tom teases his Dad there's no Youtube video of his 70's heroics, so I asked Nelson for CJAD's Ric Peterson Show what it was like facing the Dynasty Team of the 70's with some of the expansion era's worst lineups? "Greg Joly, our 1st round pick in Washington one year, always used to say 'Circle the wagons boys, here they come! Circle the wagons!'"

Then there's Bob Gainey picking the pocket of Lou Lamoriello for Jay Leach, the son of Chris Leach who played university hockey with a goalie named Jacques Martin. Yes, that Jacques Martin!

Why was Jay a Bruins fan even though he was born in Syracuse, New York? His uncle Steve played several seasons for Boston and is now a scout for the Flames. His Uncle Jay for whom the journeyman defenseman is named is an assistant coach with Washington, and his uncle Mark is a scout for the Red Wings.

Is it that easy being green? The Canadiens skated in their throwback green pants and green helmets at Brossard Friday. My buddy Dave Stubbs says he's already heard from fans who think Gomez, Gionta and Cammalleri will look like Christmas elves. That's ok, Leach and Price will look like Christmas trees!

Don't you have your poppy yet? No veterans in your family to make the Remembrance Day connection real? Put one on for my father Flying Officer James Moffat of the Lion Squadron (427 now based in Petawawa, Ontario). His father served in WW1 and his mother served in a munitions factory during the "War to End All Wars".
