SO ONE MONTREAL COACH IS HEADED TO A ROCKY MOUNTAIN WEEKEND, IS THE OTHER HEADED TO...WELL, TO PUT IT BLUNTLY...A ROCKY WEEKEND?

Coach Marc Trestman celebrated his CFL Coach of the Year Award by heading from the league luncheon in Alberta to a Banff getaway with his wife, while Jacques Martin has one of his Habs in the NHL doghouse, and another in the coach's doghouse.

Is the 4-game suspension to Lapierre just more evidence he still hasn't learned how to straddle the not so fine line between "pest", "nuisance" and "dirty"? "Real dangerous" and "really dirty" were the kinds of phrases Sharks players and coaches were tossing around. "Just trying to box out" was the phrase Lapierre and Martin preferred. Either way, Lapierre missing what promise to be physical games against the Kings and Ducks, let alone the return to the Bell Centre next week against the Lightning.

Consider yourselves forewarned, 2010 Alouettes. Coach Trestman tells me he's mailing your annual 'warning letters' this weekend. Before his rookie season, the CFL Coach of the Year sent a word to players to advise they were in for a Training Camp like they've never had before. Before his 2nd season, the 2009 Grey Cup run, he warned them camp would be even more demanding than the previous. This year? Coach says he's stressing "shared leadership" between the players and coaches.

Did you hear the Argos' former team doctor is under suspicion for link to baseball's latest doping scandal? Guess the 2009 Argos are evidence he did NOT give THEM any performance enhancers.

Memo to Trevor Timmins, Canadiens Director of Player Development: Gabriel Gervais will be draft eligible in 2028. Gabriel is the newborn son of Gold Medal Team Canada equipment manager Pierre Gervais.

Memo to Pierre Gervais: your assistant Pat Langlois would have made you proud in LA Friday. Langlois found a plastic toy ice cream cone, and kept accidentally bumping into Habs players as they came out of the dressing room in their California cool fashion statements. If Just for Laughs Gags is looking for a hockey episode, this would have been a good start.

Are the Atlanta Thrashers going to make the playoffs despite or because they salary-dumped Ilya Kovalchuk?

Are the Flyers sorry they didn't deal for a goalie? I still can't believe they make it with journeyman Mike Leighton.

In 1988, 2 Bowling Green defensemen were drafted by the NHL. The Habs took Kevin Dahl in the late rounds, while the LA Kings took Rob Blake in the 4th round. Oops. Of course Montreal chose 3 players who racked up a combined total of 3 games played and 0 points for them with their selections before Blake. Ouch. Blake is closing in on 1400 regular season and playoff games by the time the Cup comes around this summer.

Is that my 'face for radio' you're seeing in the Mark Messier Bring home the Cup Contest tv commercial? Yes, I hosted the party out in St. Lazare last year. My wife didn't seem to impressed that was how we started our 25th wedding anniversary weekend! Hey, I gave her the Messier autographed photo he gave me!?
