A West-Island makeover

A teen empowerment workshop will be held Sunday in the West Island. Two West Island women are behind this initiative - Elizabeth Wiener, a teacher and style expert and Lisa Brookman, co-director of the West Island Therapy Center.

Lisa Brookman and Liz Wiener are committed to help make a change.

"We wanted to teach them (teenage girls) that you can be beautiful inside and out", said Hachey about the upcoming event. Both women decided to create a makeover for teenage girls from 12 to 18 to teach them to enjoy the way they look. "It's not to change them", said Hachey.

"We both have teenage daughters", said Brookman. The message they want to deliver is the same one that they are teaching their own daughters: "You are beautiful the way you are. You can be beautiful without piling on make-up on your face."

Besides the makeover, the workshop, a collaboration between Wise Women MontrealCoiffure Color Town and Lovely and Lavish,  has the intend of reducing many negative effects of bullying.

"Suicide, gang intimidation, peer pressure and eating disorders are some of the consequences of bullying", reminded Hachey and Brookman.

100% of proceeds raised will go to the “Girls Inc”; a non-profit organization that inspires girls to be strong, smart and bold. The organizers are Wise Women Montreal,  Color town and lovely and lavish.
