Blogging and striving to empower women
“One with an eye for style, the other with an ear for understanding” describes Dollard des Ormeaux residents Elizabeth Wiener, a teacher and style expert and Lisa Brookman, a Montreal based clinical psychotherapist to a 'T.'

Lisa Brookman and Elizabeth Wiener are getting noticed for their new blog Wise Women Montreal. They both complement each other all while helping women build confidence.
The two best friends – they have been for “a million years” – decided that they wanted to help empower women from all ages and steps of life. They wanted to give back to the community, and their blog, called Wise Women Montreal, has become their way to do so.
“Our blog is our way of giving back. Our blog is what we give to the women of Montreal,” said Wiener.
Sexuality, fitness, beauty, makeup, nutrition, etc. – everything is there. Since the beginning of their new journey – about 6 months ago – the West Islanders have gotten noticed. They appeared in Breakfast Television Montreal, Global News and got interviewed on CJAD. Their success grows like wildfire.
“It’s been amazing”, said Brookman.
Wiener said that appearances can help individuals feel better on the inside as well. “I am a believer of the way you present yourself to the outside world. It delivers a message about who you are. Making a little effort on the outside really impacts on how you feel internally,” she said.
Showcasing West Islanders
Wise Women Montreal is not just the voice of two women – they now have 25 bloggers and they give voices to those who don’t always get heard. “For example, a young hairdresser can get noticed," said Brookman, underlining that some people don’t always have a platform to get that recognition. From housewives and stay-at-home moms to high-ranking female executives – everyone is showcased, and everyone is valued.
“They don’t have to have any kind of major background. They just have to have something interesting to say,” said Brookman.
Both women are proud to say that most of their readers are West Island based – so are most bloggers. They get emails from residents asking for a dentist’s referral or a veterinarian – even book recommendations.
