Kirkland's Calzone is one among many pizza joints worth a try.
The West Island restaurant scene is the beneficiary of a diverse and multi-ethnic population. A drive down one of the Island’s main boulevards like St. John’s or Sources will yield anything from steakhouses to Japanese sushi bars.
Here’s a list of eateries worth investigating.
Katoreya (1864 Sources Blvd., Pointe Claire)
If sushi is your thing, then you’ll want to stop by what’s regarded as one of the West Island’s premier destination for authentic Japanese cuisine. From sashimi to the red tuna tartar, the Katoreya chefs have you covered seven days a week. Fairly priced ($20-40). For more information, visit katoreya-sushi.com or call 514-505-4555.
Les 3 Maria (4886 Sources Blvd., DDO)
What better place to order tasty chicken than at a Portuguese restaurant? Opened since early 2013, the Les 3 Maria bistro serves up authentic grilled poultry and pork, as well as an impressive lineup of fish. Of course, most dishes are traditionally accompanied with potatoes. And if you’re not in the mood for something heavy, their egg custard pastry, otherwise known as ‘natas,’ is a must. Fairly priced ($5-15). For more information, call 514- 683-1333.
Carribean Tasty Treats (4410 Sources Blvd., DDO)
If you’re in need of some jerk chicken, then Caribbean Tasty Treats in Dollard des Ormeaux is the place. The small family restaurant serves fresh and quality Caribbean-inspired dishes you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in the West Island. From codfish to tasty chicken wings – and perhaps served with a cool ginger beer – Tasty Treats has you covered. Dishes are fairly priced ($10-20). Visit caribtastytreats.com or call 514-542-4410 for more information.
Calzone (3717 St. Charles Blvd., Kirkland)
Pizzas, calzones, hot subs, and pasta. What more could you want from a classic Italian restaurant like Calzone in Kirkland. Since 1998, owners Joe Sanalitro, Tony Spinelli, and Shayne Fuller have served special plates of heaven – all of which are prepared fresh, daily. Also, the Italian diner’s classic spaghetti and lasagna plates are worth a taste. Fairly priced ($5-30). For more information, visit calzone.ca or call 514-426-9000.

Seafood and steak – enough said. This maritime-themed restaurant in Dollard des Ormeaux has been serving the best since 1976. Terra Mare serves an extensive selection of fresh, tasty seafood, as well beef and veal. You might as well combine the two and try their surf and turf. Fairly priced ($18-38).
