After St. Lazare resident Matthew Brown flipped his car after catching the vehicle's front wheels in the massive sinkhole that formed in the road surface on the Highway 40 service road in Kirkland last Friday, the crevice was repaired by emergency crews.
The hope was that traffic tie-ups surrounding the pothole would be a thing of the past, but when heavy rains fell Monday and Tuesday, the resulting puddles collecting on the roadway are ominous signs indeed.
Motorists exiting the highway at the Ste. Marie Road exit near the Kirkland Coliseum cinema are warned to be careful and keep speeds slow.
