Laptop Theft, Station 4

Police remind drivers and passengers not to leave important items in their cars after parking on the heels of yet another incident where a laptop was stolen from a vehicle at Galeries des Sources. “We really want to make the population aware of this problem,” said station 4 media relations officer Chantale Castonguay. The incident occurred last Thursday at about noon, when a local businessman parked his car at the mall, went to eat at a restaurant there, and came out to find his window broken and laptop missing. There are no suspect descriptions.

A 19-year-old West Island resident is under arrest after “high-speed” driving last Sunday at 3 a.m. on residential Waverley Street in Pointe Claire. He hit two different trees and stopped on private property, station 5 media relations officer Hélène Jubinville said. He received minor injuries, while his two passengers were wounded slightly more seriously. All three were taken to Sacré Coeur Hospital.

He was arrested for driving under the influence.

A burglar broke into a carwash on St. Charles Boulevard in Pierrefonds last Monday overnight, forcing the door open to get in and take off with a gumball machine worth about $10.

Media relations officer Dan Maheu said the damages to the door were about $300.

The machine’s proceeds were devoted to charity.
