Dollard des Ormeaux native Josh Kimmel is putting together a reality television show for 2013 that’s bound to interest poker enthusiasts. Living the Life will be a ten-episode show about two women competing in various poker competitions around the globe and the interactions between them.
“We will all be in different locations likeLos Angeles,Barcelona,Berlin,Monte Carlo,Australia,Uruguay, etc. There are some big events on the world poker world and the goal of the show is to go to all of them. While they’re in those countries, the show will focus on how the two stars play and how they have fun,” said Kimmel.
The show’s two stars are reality TV stars Amanda Kimmel (no relation), who has been on Survivor three times, and Trishelle Cannatella who has been on The Real World and The Surreal Life. While Cannatella is the most experienced player of the two, Kimmel believes her experience in Survivor might help her a lot.
“I actually find a lot of similarities between playing poker and doing Survivor just because there is a level of trickery involved. You have to be able to read your opponent, you have to get them to play the cards you want them to play and call when you want them to call, different things like that. You have to read people. It’s about deception as well; you have to be able to bluff when you want to. It’s kind of like Survivor because you have to make people believe what you want them to believe,” she told The Chronicle last month as she was visitingMontrealto promote the show.
As is the case for Kimmel, Cannatella is really excited to be participating in the show, considering she is a professional poker player.
“I am most looking forward to playing poker again! I have played in a few tournaments inMontreal,New Orleansand Vegas in the past year, but no major events and I am just excited to be back in the scene and see some of my poker friends again! I also thinkBarcelonawill be a great place to film and I will hopefully get to travel and sightsee and get into a little trouble along the way,” she said.
The shooting of the show is bound to begin on the week of August 12 in Los Angeles. The pilot will take the ladies to the city of angels and then Barcelona. The show will be shot throughout the rest of 2012 and into 2013.
Kimmel says he has been talking with major networks about the possibility of airing the show next year. However, no deal has been signed yet for airing the show.
