Two dead in Dorval bus collision

Bus driver and car passenger killed

Two people died while two others were seriously injured in a road accident involving a STM bus and a passenger vehicle Tuesday night at the intersection of 55th and Lindsay avenues inDorval.

The two deaths occurred when the BMW crashed into the bus at the traffic-light intersection shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to witnesses, the bus was heading west onLindsay Avenueand the BMW was heading north on55th Avenue.Montrealpolice Const. Yannick Ouimet indicated one of the vehicles may have ran a red light but could not confirm which.

One of the victims, the driver of the bus, was partially thrown out of the bus as a result of the collision and he was crushed when the bus flipped on its side. The 61-year-old passenger of the BMW was ejected from the car in the collision. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The car’s driver suffered serious head and chest injuries while a passenger of the bus was also seriously injured. Fourteen people were reported to have been on the bus at the time of accident.

    I heard on the news that the driver of the car may be charged with impaired driving.
