West Islanders, get ready to embark on a great musical voyage at the Marie Reine de la Paix Church on Sept. 29. The producer of this unusual classical piano concert is giving you the chance to experience Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin and Liszt in one of the most intimate ambiances.
In an atmosphere reminiscent of the era of the warm evening concerts of the great romantic composers, under the soft glow of candlelight, Chilean pianist Alejandra Cifuentes Diaz who studied at the prestigious Moscow Conservatory will interpret the beautiful works of the aforementioned composers.
The pianist will stick to the most well-known pieces of the great composers making this show accessible for all. Even those who don’t normally listen to classical music are bound to recognize the pieces played in this concert.
“We chose the most well-known pieces. Even if people don’t know the names, they immediately recognize the melody. For example, Rondo Alla Turca by Mozart, a Chopin nocturne, Chopin’s famous Etude Opus 10 No. 3, his most famous piece, Für Elise by Beethoven, the William Tell Overture by Rossigny and the famous Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Lidst. Basically, it is as if we had chosen the 10 most beautiful songs of the Beatles to present,” said concert organizer Michel Corbeil.
The latter also promises attendees will get to know each of these musical geniuses more intimately through short touching anecdotes about their lives, which coupled with the music, will create an unforgettable night.
The concert takes place Saturday, Sept. 29 at Marie Reine de la Paix Church located at 11075, Gouin West Blvd. in Pierrefonds. Cost of tickets is $25.
