Concordia University is reaching out to its alumni in the West Island with a series of upcoming events. “One of our members came up with the idea to bring some events to the West Island,” said Nicole Saltiel, Concordia’s director of operations for alumni relations. “This is the first time we are holding events in the West Island,” she said, adding alumni from the area complained about the lack of parking and traffic for downtown events, so Concordia decided to come west.

On Sunday, a family outing is planned for the Ecomuseum in Ste. Anne de Bellevue (from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) where visitors may check out some of the critters living there, including foxes, coyotes, bears and lynx. There is a $15 family package (two adults, two kids).

There is also a two-part public conversation on better living being led by a self-transformation coach on May 4 and 11 to be held at Rockaberry, 3361 Sources Blvd., in Dollard des Ormeaux. The two-hour sessions (free admission) start at 7 p.m. “There will be a guest speaker (Isabelle Abdel-Sayed) and a moderator (Elizabeth Hunt) but it follows an interactive approach,” Saltiel said. “The public is to contribute to the conversation.”

The topic for the May 4 talk is ‘How is it possible to remain balanced today’ and the May 11 one is ‘What does it take to personally change.’
