A word from the publisher

It is once more my extreme pleasure to present the Pfizer Canada Young Achievers gala and scholarship program to West Islanders. This is the tenth anniversary of this exceptional program and I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone who is reading know they are a part of history. Ten years ago, we launched this fantastic campaign and the reaction has been so good that we can't ever see a day when it will no longer be relevant.

Too often, kids are portrayed in the media as being entitled and are featured only when something bad has happened, thus painting all young people with some very negative brushstrokes. The Pfizer Canada Young Achievers gala allows us to honour those exceptional young people whose hard work and selfless acts go unnoticed all too often.

That's why I am so proud to once more, along with our exceptional team at The Chronicle/Cites Nouvelles, to present this tenth-anniversary edition of the Pfizer Canada Young Achievers magazine.

I feel it's important to add that we would not be here today were it not for the ten years of support we have received from Pfizer Canada, our title sponsor, or the support we have gotten from our new partner, Desjardins de Ste.Genevieve de Pierrefonds

We are extremely proud of these young people, and as West Islanders, we feel you should be as well. Their good work is making our little corner of the world a better place to live in every day.

I hope you will join me in heartily applauding these fine young people and their commitment to the West Island community. With your help, the Pfizer Canada Young Achievers gala will be the beginning of another decade of honouring the best of youth in the West Island
