Dear Editor,
In last week’s paper version of The Chronicle (“Last borough meeting turns political”), I read a mention that Mrs. Worth said something along the lines the Sept 28 council meeting was required because the meeting earlier in the month had run too long.
In fact, at the question period (prior to the start of the council meeting) of Sept 8th, I asked Mme Worth a few questions about synthetic turf. In her response she said only one issue relating to the turf would be decided Sept. 8th and the other item listed on the agenda was to be removed and would be decided later.
I then asked her if later meant after the election. She chuckled and said "No no, it will be before the election"
If council did not want to or could not hold a council meeting in the election campaign (October) it became quite clear then, prior to the start of Sept 8th council meeting that it appeared to be council's intention all along to have a late september extraordinary council meeting.
In the case of the turf issue, they may have had to wait for the province and feds to announce funding for that project, which had not been announced yet by Sept 8th.
Any one who follows Pierrefonds-Roxboro's council activities knows that extraordinary council meetings are often made quite interesting by the types of decisions they choose to make at those sparsely attended meetings rather than the regular council meetings.
