Headlines such as 'Pierrefond's goodies don't smell right' and 'Pierrefonds, province inaugurate synthetic pitch work'are unjustified. Anyone aware of the efforts that have gone into securing a joint subsidy from the provincial and federal governments, totally over 643K, so the borough can provide a synthetic soccer field turf at Grier park will know how misleading and politically biased the reporting of your newspaper is.
When finally in mid-September we received a confirmation that the grant was awarded by both levels of government, we were relieved because this meant that the ground work could be done this fall and the installation of the turf in the early spring, thus ensuring the 2010 soccer season could be played on the new field. This is something the Soccer association and players have been waiting to hear for a long time and the timing has nothing to do with elections. Two long years, numerous follow-ups and just plain determination led to this announcement which is GOOD NEWS for the borough and something that should be properly announced as soon as it is know.
The reporting leads readers to believe otherwise, that announcements are questionable considering there is an election campaign. As the editor is responsible for the content of the paper, he should look into why the edition of September 30th (and many others in the past) can be allowed to go to press. I certainly can't explain it.
As for taking care of day-to-day business at the borough hall, this is the first priority on the current Council's agenda. Time does not stand still for an election and citizens can rely on our staff and council to be at work, doing what needs to be done, on a daily basis.

Mrs. Worth, It is nice to see that you have time to voice your objection about a newspaper article that may have some derogatory comments about you and your munivipal team. How about responding to citizen's concerns that the artifical turf at Grier Park is only being built and outfitted for soccer use and not for any other sports such as football or cricket. It seems very strange that an artifical turf is being built and developped for only one sports demographic(soccer) of the community.
