An Ouragans player gets crushed into the boards during Sunday night's 8-4 DDO win.
The Dollard des Ormeaux Pirates served a correction to the Versant Ouest Ouragans Sunday night at the Dollard Civic Centre. The Pirates won 8-5 as Massimo Raso and Christopher Cinelli-Faia combined for six points during the game.
"It went back and forth. Both teams could have played better but we eventually got more chances and buried them," said Cinelli-Faia.
"We outplayed them offensively. We got the puck up the ice pretty quick. Overall, I think we beat them in that aspect early. We're a quicker team in that aspect," said Pirates head coach Alex Essaris.
Banging in a rebound, Tristan Nu-Yg made the score 4-2 with 21 seconds to go in the first period. Harley Michaels got rid of defensive coverage to put his team ahead by three goals early in the second period.
Dollard goaltender Jonathan Levy partially stopped Pouyann Shokouhi's shot towards the end of the period but the puck went in nonetheless. With 3:19 to go in the second tier, Dollard was ahead 5-3.
Raso deflected a shot by defenseman Hector Serey to give Dollard a three-goal lead back a minute later. Trevor Tabah with a superbly executed deke brought Versant Ouest to a two-goal deficit but it wouldn't be enough and the Pirates would take the game 8-4.
Ouragans head coach Vittorio Franco said after the game he would have like to see more discipline and hard work from his players amongst other things.
"One of the problems we have is that we don't cover the boards. Backdoor goals hurt us too tonight," he said.
