Montreal Impact goaltender Troy Perkins talks to students of Christmas Park Elementary about perseverance on May 21.

Montreal Impact goaltender Troy Perkins was welcomed by roughly 100 students at Christmas Park Elementary last Wednesday.

As part of the Lester B. Pearson School Board’s stay-in-school program, the Ohio-born soccer player spoke about his personal drive to become a professional soccer player, emphasizing the importance of perseverance.

Perkins, 32, also visited Dorval Elementary on May 1, while former Impact Andrew Wenger spoke to students of Children’s World Academy in April.

The Montreal Impact supports the board’s Pearson Educational Foundation. Part of the proceeds raised during a Major League Soccer (MLS) match in March benefitted the foundation's support for educational programs.
