Annual Stanley Keg Tournament

West Island hockey fans, reserve your Friday night and your weekend to attend the 5th annual Montreal Stanley Keg hockey tournament. Between 15-20 NHL players along with many top AHL prospects will come together to compete for the right to hoist the Stanley Keg.

Topics :
Sportplexe , NHL , Quebec , Montreal

Amongst these players will be Quebec talents like Jason Pominville, Alex Burrows, Derick Brassard, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Marc-Edouard Vlasic.

Co-organiser of the tournament, Derek McCann of Beaconsfield, is very excited with this 2009 edition. “Similar to last summer, we will have a good 15 full time NHLers along with the top talents from Montreal and surrounding areas.

Friday, July 17th, at 7:00pm, the tournament kicks off with eight teams all vying for the honor of having their names engraved on the keg!

Last year the team lead by Derick Brassard, Maxim Lapierre, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Marc-Andre Gragnani, and Philippe Dupuis took the title. Prior to 2008, the tournament was mostly dominated by the side of Alex Burrows, Jason Pominville, Joel Perreault, Yanick Lehoux, and company. This year, according to the organizer, all the teams seem very eager and capable of competing for the title.

A total of 15 games of 5 vs 5 hockey will be played on the Olympic sized ice at the Sportplexe throughout the weekend. A ten dollar tournament pass grants you access to all 15 tournament games!

See you at the keg!
