The Alexander Park Peewee Roughriders football team didn’t know what to expect when they faced a strong Châteauguay side last week at Alexander Park.  Head Coach Warren McCaffrey admitted his team was nervous. “Our number one quarterback Matthew Zatkovic was injured and unable to play.  Starting at quarterback will be rookie Sebastian Figut who hasn’t had many practice reps” said coach McCaffrey in a pregame interview.  However when the afternoon was done it was the RoughRiders offensive line who carried the day for the locals.  The offensive-line composed of centre Ola Kuti, guards Christopher Ridyard and Michael Shatawy as well as Tackies Oliver Quinn and Shamond Carlisle combined with tight ends Oliver Watier and Raphael Chanu among others to consistently open holes for rookie quarterback Figut’s selection of inside running plays.  Vincent Lefebvre had three majors from runs of under ten yards while Alexander Morin exploded for 40 and 65 yard runs off tackle to seal the victory for the Roughriders.  Zachary Aboud with a kick off fumble recovery, as well as Joey Palumbo, Ryan Olianski, Thomas Destounis and Samuel Duchesne were some of the standouts for Alexander on defence. Next up for the 8‑2 Roughriders is a bye-week before playoff action begins.
