The Atom BB DDO Pirates brought their hard hats and lunch pails to the arena Sunday morning, working hard to earn a 6-3 decision over the Deux Rives Requins. They posted the victory despite surrendering early goals each of the first two periods, one of the hardest setbacks to overcome at any level.

The Pirates turned a negative situation into a positive one, responding with goals of their own within a minute of the Deux Rives markers. In fact, the Pirates countered just 33 seconds after the Requins opened the scoring in the first and had added two more before the end of the frame. Perhaps even more importantly, they scored twice immediately after the Requins had drawn to within one at the beginning of the second, extending their lead to 5-2.

After the game, co-captains Harley Michaels and Cameron Weltzman spoke about the responsibility involved with wearing the ‘C.’ “We have to make sure that we set a good example for everyone and support our teammates,” said Michaels, who serves as captain in away games such as this one. “We played really well as a team and showed a lot of heart,” he added. “I think we just wanted it a bit more than the other team,” said Weltzman, who showed his skill on the ice, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist. Nick Cardone and Mark Abdelnour also counted three points for the Pirates, who improved their record to 7-3-1 on the season.

Barracudas keep winning The Peewee BB Deux Rives Barracudas continued their strong start to the season, defeating the Suroît TGV 7-3 last weekend. The Barracudas scored a pair of goals in a span of 15 seconds early on, establishing a lead that they would not relinquish. The goals came on the heels of a brilliant save by goaltender Valery Deslauriers, who turned aside a three-man breakaway on Suroît’s previous rush. Thierry Lalonde led the way with a goal and three assists and Gabriel Simard contributed three points of his own, including the game-winning goal. <@Cp>Chronicle, Mike Somma<@$p>

Loved the article. thanks for highliting a story on the DDO Pirate's Atom BB. Although, you spelt the last name of the player Cameron Weitzman wrong. It appears as "Weltzman". Accurate spelling is Weitzman. Thank you for the coverage... my son was so excitited. Mitchell Weitzman
