Last Friday’s home opener would have been an excellent time for the Midget AAA Lac St. Louis Lions to notch their first win of the season, but the familiar surroundings didn’t have any effect as the Lions lost 4-0 to Collège Antoine-Girouard. They couldn’t muster anything past opposing goaltender Julien Giroux despite directing 42 shots his way, including 20 in the third period. It was the first shutout of the young season for Giroux. Lac St. Louis defenseman Dillon Fournier was named the game’s third star.
The Lions had another kick at the can on Sunday afternoon but were defeated 6-2 by Collège Esther-Blondin. Philip Zielonka scored the team’s first goal and leads the Lions with two goals and four assists on the season. Samuel Noreau notched his first goal of the season to round out the scoring. The Lions head to Magog and Châteauguay next week in search of a win.
