The Brookwood midget AAA Bullets easily took the measure of the DJ Sports Bobcats Sunday afternoon at Riverdale High School in Pierrefonds, defeating them by a score of 113-56.
“We wanted to focus on the defense today. We were trying to keep them under 50 points. We didn’t do well in that aspect. But today was a great team effort. We came through in what we needed to do. Overall, the team’s offence: the ball was moving nicely. All of our shots were falling. It was definitely a great effort on the offence. I was just hoping to get that on defense as well,” said Bullets’ head coach Kenny Clyke.
Brookwood definitely set the pace of the game early on, establishing a lead in the first quarter they would not relinquish. Adam Pace with three baskets and two free throws for eight points and Sheldon Reid with three nets combined for 14 of the team’s first-quarter 26 points.
After 10 minutes of play, the Bullets had the lead 26-14. Brookwood continued its ascent to victory quickly in the second quarter nailing 10 points in just over two minutes of play. Pace and Dylan Cruikshank ran the show in the second quarter. The latter augmented his half-time total to 16 points by again nailing three baskets and two foul shots while Cruikshank netted two baskets, three free throws and a three-pointer for a total of 10 points in the quarter.
At half-time, Brookwood was up 52-24. Reid kept up the good work in the third quarter with 5 points while Reid came up with six of his own as the Bullets scored a total 27 to augment the lead to 79-35 by the third quarter’s end. Brookwood added 34 points in the fourth quarter to end the game with a comfortable 57-point lead at 113-56.
“My guys played well in defence and in offence. I’m not disappointed by the outcome. I think the referees played a role in the end score,” said DJ Sports head coach Candie Brun.
