The Pierrefonds Peewee B Marquis hockey team recently travelled to Mont Laurier to participate in the Richelieu International Mont Laurier Hockey Tournament. The Marquis, who won three consecutive games to qualify for the gold medal match, eventually had to settle for silver as they lost 5-2 to the hands of the Mont Tremblant team in the final. Michael Christopher Reid and Alexandre Blais-Schegange had the goals for the Marquis in the final game. Pierrefonds Captain Denis Nosach said he was glad they went to this tournament. “We did very well on the ice and we had a blast in the hotel during our stay up north” he said. Marquis goaltender Louis-Christophe Côté-Turcotte recorded two wins. In Mont Laurier the major goal scorers for the Pierrefonds team throughout the week included Olivier Laplante, Julian Marra, Richard Nafekh and Alexandre Blais-Schetange. Defensively Balkaran Singh Gidda, a six year veteran of Pierrefonds hockey was particularly sharp in the gold medal game and was happy to have played well the tournament.
