The Novice A Barons Pierrefonds hockey team are on a winning streak. The team recently travelled to Laval where advancing from the second chance group of finalists they captured the gold medal. Starring for the Barons in this tournament were, among others, Jacob Provost who played goaltender for the first time in his career and Michael La Starza who whistled in four goals in the final game. Then moving on to the Mirabel Tournament shortly after, the Barons, due to tournament and regular season schedule’s, were obliged to play 10 games in a nine day stretch. A feat that undoubtedly the NHL players’ association would never buy into. At Mirabel the Barons’ again prevailed scoring a gold medal 6-4 victory over Blainville and then came right back to win the St. Laurent Tournament later in the month. Following the tournament wins the Barons recently faced the Lakeshore Leopards in regular season game. A third-period goal by Barons defenseman Luca Ricci gave the Barons a hard fought 1-0 victory. Starring for the Leopards among others was goalie Brady James who faced 32 shots in the game and defensemen Luke Hunger, Sean Bourke and George Krailis. With Barons stars Luca Ricci, Charles Alexis Legaut and wingers Carter Evans and Michael La Starza alone directing a total of 23 shots at James it was left to Hunger, Krailis and Bourke to control and redirect the rebounds out of harms ways. Hats off to Leopards first-year player Jake Rossi and Shea Van Olm who had the Leopards best scoring chances. Other members of the undefeated Barons hockey club who play an important role in the success of the team and not previously mentioned in this article are Daniel Parisien, Philippe Quinn, Justin Tremellen, Luka Lassenza, Alexander Reid, Hugo Istasse, Tyrus Flory, Matthew Johnson and Ousmane Seydi.
