Highway work forces night-time closures

Got a trip planned with the kids this summer? Got plans for a sporting event or festival? Maybe you’re just heading out of town for an impromptu cottage gathering.
Maybe you’re just going to get some groceries.
Either way, there are a number of highway roadwork projects that will be going on in and around the West Island over the summer.
West Islanders heading downtown this summer would do well to avoid the plethora of highway projects in coming months; moreover, a lot of the projects are shut down completely after 11 p.m., so be wary.
Work on Highway 20 in Dorval, Beaconsfield, Baie d’Urfé and Ste. Anne de Bellevue is currently ongoing. The highway is getting re-paved and the medians are getting re-touched through the end of July. The work might mean occasional night-time closures of the whole highway, Transport Quebec spokesman Josée Seguin said.
Further east on Highway 20, re-paving work currently underway will run a little longer and will result in night-time closures of the eastbound stretch of highway between Sources Boulevard and 55th Avenue in Lachine. In addition, the work on sound barriers in Lachine has forced the closure of the 55th Avenue exit and will force the closure of the Highway 20/Highway 13 northbound access ramp for at least a month. Work is expected to carry on through November.
On Highway 40, Transport Quebec will be repairing the Morgan Road overpass, forcing occasional night-time closures of Highway 40 and will shrink the width of the lanes in both directions near Morgan for the length of the summer, Seguin added.
Another set of roadwork further west on Highway 40 on exit 26 in Vaudreuil-Dorion will shrink the lanes on Montee Daoust leading to St. Lazare and Hudson from August to October.
