Debit-card fraud
Debit-card fraud
Two people were charged with fraud after allegedly trying to use fake debit cards at the TD/Canada Trust branch in Dorval last Wednesday night.
Bank officials detected someone was trying to withdraw cash with a cloned card at about 8:30 p.m., said Const. Liliana Bellucci of Montreal police Station 5. The incident was captured on security cameras.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the bank and intercepted a car with two people in it. A 16-year-old Dollard des Ormeaux male and 28-year-old Montreal man were arrested and charged with fraud. Police seized seven cloned debit cards from three different banks and $4,000 in cash from the car.

Break-in spree

Police are investigating a string of break-ins in Baie d’Urfé last week.

Two homes on Normandy Road were robbed sometime last Wednesday afternoon, said Const. Chantal Morneau of Montreal police Station 1. A window was forced at one home and a patio door at the other. The crook went after jewelry items.

Meanwhile, a home on Somerset Road was also robbed on the same day. The burglar forced a window and then headed straight to the master bedroom looking for jewelry.

Police believe the same suspect is probably responsible for all three break-ins.

Morneau advised homeowners to store their jewelry and valuable items in a safety deposit box or safe rather than leave them in a jewelry box or hidden in a drawer.

Attempted SUV theft

As two young women pulled up to their Kirkland home from a night out they spotted some crooks trying to steal their father’s 2005 Nissan X-Trail parked in the driveway at about 2:15 a.m. on July 10, said Const. Chantal Morneau of Montreal police Station 1. One suspect was in driver’s seat as his accomplice acted as a look out. The would-be SUV thieves then fled running, in opposite directions, once they realized they were spotted.

Tagger tagged

A 16-year-old male was picked up July 6 for allegedly marking up parts of Station 5 territory with graffiti, said Const. Liliana Bellucci of Montreal police Station 5.

He faces various charges, including

vandalism.
