Motorist arrested
Police intercepted a suspicious looking car on Highway 40 near the Quality Suites in Pointe Claire last Friday.
The automobile matched the description of one linked to a suspect who was wanted by Montreal police.
The 31-year-old, white, English-speaking male was verbally abusive towards the police once they had pulled him over and also gave them a fake name. But, upon verification, the man was indeed wanted on numerous warrants, including breach of probabtion.
ATM targetted
On Aug. 29 at 8:25 p.m., a suspect ripped out the ATM machine keypad at a bank on Dorval Avenue. Damage is estimated at about $5,000. Station 5 Const. Lilliana Bellucci said two similar incidents were reported in Montreal and Laval.
False alarm
Montreal police and firefighters responded to a call at the Ultramar gas station at 3335 Sources Blvd. last Wednesday afternoon following a call about a potential hazardous material risk.At about 1:10 p.m., police received a call from a public phone booth about a yellow bag containing asbestos near the dumpster located on the gas station’s premises. The police and fire department arrived shortly thereafter and established a security perimeter. However, upon closer inspection, it ended up being a false alarm. According to police Station 4 Const. Leslie Potts, the bag was only full of garbage.
