An art auction to benefit the Children's Wish Foundation will be held at the Wellesley Residence in Pointe Claire on Sunday.
There will
be 34 framed art reproductions and a mirror crafted in Italy sold at the fundraiser, with the five most important items being sold in an open auction and the remainder in a silent auction. The operators of the seniors' complex said the framed art became available after renovations were recently made at the property.
"Over the years, a number of these reproductions were displayed in our lounges and offices and we feel they could still serve to decorate a family room, an office or even a waiting room," stated Jacques Boucher, the director of the residence. "We would like to give a new life to this collection."
In addition to the reproductions, some residents of the Wellesley have donated their own artwork to be sold in a silent auction.
The reproductions range in size from about one-by-two feet to four-by-four feet. Opening bids will start at $50 and up.
To preview the art to be auctioned, the public can come by Friday or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The silent auction will be held Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. followed by the open auction. The Wellesley is located 230 Hymus Blvd., Pointe Claire, just west of St. John's Boulevard. For more information, call 514-697-7331.
