Moving day
It was moving day for one Pierrefonds family recently – or should we say one Pierrefonds family’s home.
In June 2006, a fire completely destroyed a building adjacent to the family’s house on Gouin Boulevard in western Pierrefonds. Nine months later, bad luck struck again: firefighters were called back to the property in February 2007, this time to battle a blaze inside the home.
Moving day for the family was scheduled for Nov. 8. However, they were not moving into a new home; it was a home that was moving to them. In order to allow the flatbed truck carrying the house to maneuver successfully, police had to temporarily close Gouin Boulevard to traffic while the professional movers made sure the electric cables, phone lines and street signs along the road were left in tact. It was a sight that that must have garnered a fair share of second glances from people living in the neighbourhood.
